Student Profile

To take the Master's Degree in Bioengineering, candidates must apply to the Master's Evaluation Committee for admission, and provide evidence of entrance qualifications and professional CV, if appropriate.

The nature of the Master's makes it recommendable for students to have the following official qualifications:

- Degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, pharmacy.

- Chemical engineering, agronomy.

- Technical engineering or qualification in the above areas.

Candidates with other official qualifications, which are different from the above, and graduates from foreign universities in areas similar to the Master's, may also apply for admission. The Master's Evaluation Committee will determine, upon study of the syllabus taken by the student and his or her CV, whether he or she may be admitted and whether complementary training to the Master's Programme need be taken and passed.

Or for higher degrees obtained previously (according to 9 February 2006 agreement at the meeting of the Interuniversity Council of Catalonia):

  • Successful completion of three years of studies and at least 180 credits of current syllabi, in which credits successfully passed contain all core subjects from the first current cycle of the higher university studies. The Advisory Committee for the Master's Programme will undertake an individual study of each candidate to determine if he/she requires additional training.
  • Individuals with degrees from foreign universities who have followed syllabi equivalent to the above. The Advisory Committee for the Master's Programme will undertake an individual study of each candidate to determine if he/she requires additional training.
  • When the official degrees to replace current qualifications are determined, the ones most optimal for the master's programme will be defined.

The Advisory Committee for the Master's Degree in Bioengineering may consider admission applications from candidates with qualifications other than the above, provided they are from related areas. In this case, candidates may be admitted, indicating the additional training required.
