Mission

Our mission is the integral education of people with attitudes, knowledge and skills that enable and inspire them to create, lead and manage competitive organizations, particularly in technological and industrial areas, committed with excellence and justice, based on deeply-held values deriving from a Christian conception of life. The Mission of Facultad de Economia IQS emanates from IQS's mission and is coherent with it. 

Degrees

The Degree in Business Administration is the fundamental and top priority degree of Facultad de Economía IQS .

The purpose of the Degree program in Business Administration is for students to obtain a general education, together with other specific competences oriented towards the exercise of professional activities in relation with Business Administration. The goal of our program is to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to turn our graduates into competent and honest entrepreneurs, leaders and managers.

Our main goal is to educate students who have finished secondary education and who demonstrate the potential to successfully complete their undergraduate studies. Geographically, our students come from this region but it is also our wish to integrate students from other parts of Spain.

We are proud of our international vocation and have an interest in conducting exchanges with universities from other countries that share similar values, and wish to promote temporary stays of students from other countries.

A fundamental aspect of our Degree program is the practical nature of the different subjects, and the fact that all students must take part in professional internships during the course of their studies.

The learning objectives of the program, on one hand include the development and achievement of specific competencies which help students to develop technical capacities that will enable them to create businesses and manage organizations; and on the other hand, we foster the acquisition of other transversal competencies, such as: "Human/Christian education" as the core value that supports all other competencies; "ethical commitment and corporate social responsibility"; "analysis and synthesis capacity"; "problems solving skills"; "oral and written communication"; "teamwork"; "leadership"; "creativity and innovation"; "globalization"; "mastery of information technologies"; and an "industrial and technological preparation".

Master in Global Entrepreneurship and Management

"Joint Ameurasia Master in Global Entrepreneurship and Management".

The general objective of this Master's program is to educate students and help them develop competencies that will enable them to create businesses, or to participate in the management of companies and institutions in a globalized context. The characteristics of the program are a globalizing vision associated with innovation, and value creation and management in business.

Facultad de Economía IQS imparts this degree together with Fu Jen University (Taipei, Taiwan) and the University of San Francisco (San Francisco, USA). Students enrolled in the Program through said three universities, all of which are AACSB accredited, take part in an enriching international experience that permits them to study in countries belonging to three well differentiated cultures, thus assuring a well grounded approach to global markets.

Each cohort is made up of students, a third of which is enrolled by each participating University, who work together during one term in each School.

This Master's Program is addressed to students from all parts of the world who hold a Degree in Business Administration, or its equivalent, and who wish to develop their professional activity in global business settings. It requires fluent English because classes are taught in that language. The program is included in the group of masters that do not require any previous professional experience (pre-experience).

The implication and collaboration of several companies in the program is worth noting because it entails the execution of projects which are guided by both professors of these universities and by participating companies, thus assuring that the students' global experience is all-encompassing, and not restricted to appreciating cultural and academic differences.

The program includes aspects which give great importance to social awareness and to ethical aspects derived from a new and globalized social order.

The learning objectives of the program aim to provide students with a number of specific competencies which will enable them to excel in the management of international businesses from a social, cultural, ethnic, economic and regulatory difference perspective. Additionally, the following transversal competencies are worth noting: "ethical commitment and corporate social responsibility"; "innovative thought, initiative and entrepreneurial spirit"; "global vision and internationalization"; "mastery of new technologies and the capacity to apply acquired knowledge to new situations".

Master in Management of Industrial companies

This Master's program aims to provide students holding technical degrees with advanced business training and a number of competencies that will properly prepare them for the performance of professional activities related to the economic world, in particular within industrial companies. This orientation corresponds to the traditional IQS approach as a center closely related to industrial companies with an acknowledged and long history in technological and industrial training.

This Master's program is specifically designed for students holding undergraduate degrees in technical disciplines, particularly from Science and Engineering schools. It is addressed to students from the Spanish territory but also to students from the European Higher Education Area and other foreign students who hold similar degrees.

This Master's program is included in the group of masters that do not require any previous professional experience (pre-experience).

The learning objectives of the program imply understanding the different functional areas of business, while obtaining a global vision that will enable graduates to interact within a specific area, or to manage businesses, especially industrial and technological companies, with a complete comprehension of all relevant aspects.

In order to achieve these objectives, on the one hand students must obtain and develop specific competencies that correspond to different functional business areas such as accounting and finance, marketing, human resources, logistics and operations management, economy, strategic management and business law, which provide students with a global vision of the company in relation to technical and economic aspects.

On the other hand, the degree should equip students with the following transversal competencies: "ethical commitment and corporate social responsibility"; "analytical reasoning"; "an orientation towards achievement"; "the impact and influence of communication"; "leadership and team management"; "initiative and entrepreneurial spirit"; "customer service orientation"; "global and international vision"; "mastery of new technologies"; and the "application of acquired knowledge to new situations".

Master in Research for Economics and Business

This Master's program aims to provide students with the advanced training and to contribute in the development of a number of competencies that will enable them, once they successfully complete the program, to become researchers and thus pursuit doctoral studies in Economics and Business, and ultimately obtain the corresponding PhD degree. Hence, this program aims to qualify students to carry out research in Economics and Business in an individual and autonomous way, and to undertake teaching activities in the University.

This degree also enables the students to develop research tasks in the fields of economics and management, in both public organisms and private companies. Graduates will also be able to develop their professional activity in functional areas where research in economics and business are an important task, like banking or financial research services, R+D+i departments, and market research institutes, among others.

This Master is addressed to students with an undergraduate degree in Business Administration, or its equivalent, who are proficient in English to the point of being able to enroll in courses taught in this language and who are interested in acquiring knowledge and developing abilities as researchers. Geographically it is addressed to the global market, preferably for students from Spain and Latin America.

In the teaching aspect, it is promoted the exchange with professors from foreign universities, and eminent professors are invited to teach subjects of our program.

The following competences tend to promote the research profile in the student: Abilities to search and manage the information supported by information technologies, capacity for analysis and synthesis, critical thought, capacity to apply knowledges to new situations, ethical commitment, preparation for teaching, and commitment with rigorous work, capacity to draw reasonable interferences and to supply new knowledges.

Doctorate in Business and Economics

Facultad de Economia IQS, as a founding member of URL, assumed the responsibility to impart Doctoral studies, and has done so since its inception. We consider the doctoral program as an indispensable means for Facultad of Economia IQS to carry out research and thus provide an up-to-date and innovative university education.

The Doctoral program aims to help students develop a critical spirit and provide them with the abilities that researchers need, and to promote investigation and improve teaching quality in Facultad de Economía IQS.

Additionally, the program allows us to have state-of-the-art frontline knowledge in the areas of business and economics and moreover it promotes the creation of a well prepared and competent faculty that guarantees continuity of the School's teaching quality.

This program is preferably addressed to:

• Graduates who have already studied our "Master in research for Economics and Business" and show a high intellectual concern

• Professionals who due to their teaching vocation or to the requirements of their entrepreneurial environment, wish to carry out their doctoral studies some years after having finished their undergraduate degree. In order for them to enroll in the doctoral program they should previously obtain the Master in research for Economics and Business degree, or another similar program of study.

• Undergraduates or graduates from any university master's program who will previously enroll for special training in order to be accepted in this program.

One common characteristic of all PhD students is an outstanding analytical and critical spirit and a clear vocation oriented towards research.

Our doctoral program has a selective character which prioritizes quality over the quantity of students.

We promote exchanges with other doctoral programs from Jesuit universities. Our objective is to contribute to the economic, social, cultural and academic development of Latin America and therefore, we participate in UNESCO Chair of the Universidad Ramón Llull (URL) with the purpose to integrate Latin-American students.

Among the competencies proper to this program, the following stand out: "analysis and synthesis capacity"; "critical thought"; "the capacity to develop and apply new knowledge"; "abilities to manage information and the use of information technologies"; "the ability to draw reasonable inferences from observed phenomena"; "develop a commitment with long-term endeavors"; "methodological capacity"; "preparation for teaching"; and "ethical commitment".

TEACHING

- Teaching is the primary responsibility of faculty members and the priority emphasis of Facultad de Economía IQS.

- Our Ignatian tradition calls us to believe that the development of the capacity to learn is essential for the personal and professional development of our students, in four specific areas: acquiring knowledge, learning to learn, learning to be, and learning to live with others.

- We provide our students with experiences that develop interpersonal and analytical competencies: oral and written communication, teamwork, critical thought, problem solving and use of information and communications technologies.

- We offer programs designed for the integral, interdisciplinary education of our graduates, which include the knowledge of basic economic principles, management foundations and the impact of globalization and technology, while promoting the international character of our programs.

- We are committed to being recognized for the quality of our faculty, for their proven business experience, their pedagogical vocation and their dedication to providing personalized attention to students. A significant number of our professors are engineers, which serves to strengthen the industrial and technological preparation or our graduates.

INTELLECTUAL CONTRIBUTIONS

- Research is an essential activity in order to provide quality teaching and contribute to the advancement of knowledge. For this reason, we stimulate and give incentives to the research task, with an emphasis on applied and pedagogical research, especially in the interdisciplinary areas for which IQS is well known.

- From within the faculty, professors who are especially devoted to research stand out because they are held to a higher standard with regard to continuous production of contributions such as publication of referee articles, participation in congresses, book chapters, lecture activities and intellectual contributions that support our commitment with research.

- Research faculty's main role is to support and contribute to the Master in research for Economics and Business and Doctoral program in Economics and Business.

SERVICES

- Providing external services is a necessary activity that serves to improve teaching and to promote direct contact with current business reality and the integration of Facultad de Economia IQS in the local community. Thus, we endeavor to provide consulting services to firms, especially in areas such as innovation, quality, security, or environment where IQS has a privileged position.

- As a founding member of URL, IQS fully participates in all URL bodies, collaborating in all the activities promoted by the latter within its capacities and functions.

- In the same way, Facultad de Economia IQS actively participates in the IAJBS (International Association of Jesuit Business Schools) thus strengthening its global vocation and its international relations.
